#Shocking! | Karine Gambier, 1976.

a.k.a. La dernière nuit de Claude Mulot (as Frederic Lansac)

One of the strangest from an era of experimental filmmaking in porn. Other French films in this same genre include Pussy Talk (Le Sexe qui parle), Erotic Pleasures (Tout pour le plaisir), Kinky Ladies of Bourbon Street (Mes nuis avec...) and La Grande baise (literally: The Great Fuck).

Dark, apocalyptic, but with a distinctively French tongue-in-cheek humour. If you're a film buff, you should get a kick out of this one.

Creative use of black & white stock footage from the Second World War, Vietnam and probably other battle zones, too.

The faked scenes at the Kremlin and White House are quite funny. Notice how the American President is drinking vodka and the Soviet Premier is drinking whiskey, while each mocks the other one. Hypocrisy on parade.

Emmanuelle Parèze really shines in this. She is the mistress of ceremonies, the grande dame who humiliates her bigwig husband (their sex scene is also funny), and scandalizes her guests by showing a homemade porn film featuring the guest of honor, a radio celebrity who raves against pornography and sexual excess, and is caught on film visiting two prostitutes. His cover blown, he almost leaves, but in the end decides to stay and joins in the orgy.

Marie-Christine Chireix plays the prim, uptight secretary who secretly is in love with her boss, Alex de Courval. The original has a scene with her fantasizing about him while taking a bath, but the scene is missing from this version.

The description quoted in TheBare's post above, which is a synopsis from Egafd, is wrong about one point IMO:

Quote:
Armelle almost masturbates and then, disgusted as the porn film reaches the point where two girls take a facial, she rushes to the bathroom. Alex goes to console her and she offers herself to him - we see a fantasy sequence - but he turns her down.

My interpretation is that Alex does not turn her down. He screws Armelle from behind in a standing position, but he is the one fantasizing -- in his fantasy Armelle is replaced by his wife, Juliette. He imagines that he is screwing and dominating Juliette (who humiliated him earlier in the bedroom), and when he cries out her name instead of Armelle's, Armelle breaks away from him and rejects him. He apologizes sheepishly, but she only pities him and leaves him feeling dejected.

The DVD is also missing Marie-Christine Guennec's entire scene, which is a shame not only because we miss out on M-C Guennec, but also because the scene helps to develop the character of Armelle (M-C Chireix).

During the mutual masturbation scene with Karine Gambier and her teenage student (son of the de Courval's), in the original there is a fadeaway to her fantasy or memory of fucking Thierry de Brem in a room overlooking a boat harbor (appears to be an outtake from A Change of Partners). This is also missing on the DVD.

The de Courval's apartment, where most of the film was shot, should look familiar to fans of 70's French porn. It appeared in several other classics, notably Jouir jusqu'au délire (aka Corpi d'amore) and Je suis une belle salope, both with Brigitte Lahaie. The shiny steel spiral staircase, split-level living room, and floor-to-ceiling built-in bookshelves are unmistakable.
